Privacy Policy

Effective June 11, 2026 — Broctic ("we", "us")

The short version

Your journal is yours. Lanterly has no accounts, and your entries are stored only on your device. We never transmit, store, sell, or read what you write. Full stop.

What stays on your device

Every journal entry, your streak history, and your settings live in the app's local database on your iPhone. They are included in your device backups (iCloud or local) under your control, encrypted by iOS like the rest of your device. You can export your journal as plain text or delete entries permanently at any time.

What we measure

We use PostHog to understand how the app is used so we can improve it: which screens are opened, whether an entry was written (and roughly how long it was — short, medium, long), whether reminders are on, and purchase events. This telemetry never includes the text of your journal, the prompts you answered, or anything that identifies you personally beyond a random device identifier.

Purchases

In-app subscriptions are processed by Apple; we never see your payment details. Purchases on our website are processed by Polar (our merchant of record), which handles payment and applicable taxes under its own privacy policy.

What we don't do

We don't sell data. We don't show ads. We don't use third-party advertising SDKs. We don't train AI on your writing — we can't, because we never have it.

Children

Lanterly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
